Attendance Support Guidelines
- Overview
Reconciliation Australia will actively approach and engage organisations who have the ability to provide funding to support eligible individuals to attend the National RAP Conference and Indigenous Governance Awards 2024 (IGA) Gala Dinner.
We are offering a limited number of supported registrations and will be allocated based on available resources and number of applications received.
- Eligibility criteria
Applications for Conference and IGA 2024 Gala Dinner attendance support can be from, but not limited to:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Individuals who work for a community organisation or not for profit
- Individual teachers or educators
- People experiencing financial hardship
- Assistance packages
The number of packages available will be dependent on the sponsorship received. If successful, individuals may receive support for:
- Complimentary registration plus travel assistance. Covers conference registration fees, a seat at the Indigenous Governance Awards 2024 Gala Dinner and support for travel and two nights’ accommodation.
- Complimentary registration. Covers registration fees to attend the two-day Conference and Indigenous Governance Awards 2024 Gala Dinner.
- Partial conference support. Covers 50% of the conference registration fees.

Reconciliation Australia will consider all applications for attendance support received by 1 October 2024.

Applicants will be required to answer the following questions:
- In your own words, how will attending the Conference and IGA 2024 increase your ability to advance reconciliation individually and/or in your workplace/institution?
- Please tell us why is progressing reconciliation in Australia important to you and/or your workplace/institution?
- Please tell us why you are applying for support to attend the National RAP Conference and IGA 2024 Gala Dinner.

- Process and Notification
There will be two application rounds:
- Round 1: Applications received by 31 July 2024
- Round 2: Applications received by 26 September 2024
- Applicants who submitted in the first round will be notified by 7 August 2024.
- Applicants who submitted in the second round will be notified by 7 October 2024.
- Principles for assessing applications
- Confidentiality – private information of those seeking Conference attendance support will be on a need-to-know basis.
- Fairness – the Conference attendance support review process will be as free of bias as possible, allowing reviewers to fairly assess responses from applications submitted.
- Transparency – all Conference attendance support decisions will be based on the clearly defined framework.
- Approval
Conference attendance support requests will be reviewed by Reconciliation Australia against the eligibility criteria and assessment criteria.
- Acceptance of Conference and IGA 2024 Gala Dinner attendance support
In accepting attendance support, successful applicants agree to attend all available sessions of the National RAP Conference on Wednesday, 5 November 2024 to Thursday, 6 November 2024 which includes the Indigenous Governance Awards Gala Dinner.
If your availability to attend the event changes, you agree to inform Reconciliation Australia at conference@reconciliation.org.au of the change with as much notice as reasonably possible, to ensure we can reallocate your support.
